We specialize in diagnosing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Learning Disabilities, such as dyslexia, auditory processing, and visual-spatial deficits<\/li><li>Attention-Deficit\/Hyperactivity Disorder<\/li><li>Giftedness<\/li><li>Aspergers and other diagnoses on the Autism Spectrum<\/li><li>Varied learning and social-emotional issues<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our goal is to provide the information needed to determine the best comprehensive plan to meet the needs of each student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testing Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once an appointment for testing is scheduled, a packet is mailed that includes a background history form and rating scales to be completed by the parents or adult student and forms\/rating scales to be completed by the teachers\/professors.&nbsp; These forms should be completed and returned by the first day of testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Testing varies from 5 to 6\u00bd hours, depending on the age of the student.\u00a0 The testing is usually broken into two days, although the youngest students sometimes require separate one-hour sessions.\u00a0 The process includes evaluations of intellectual functioning, processing skills in the areas of auditory, visual, memory, attention\/concentration, and executive functioning, academic skills in the areas of basic reading skills, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, math calculation, math problem-solving, written expression and spelling, and a brief social-emotional assessment.\u00a0 Once the evaluation is completed, a conference is held with the parents and\/or adolescent\/adult student for 1\u00bd hours.\u00a0 A detailed report is then completed and mailed and emailed within 2 weeks of the conference.\u00a0 The report is billed at 1 1\/2 hours of the examiner\u2019s time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional evaluations available through the center include assessments to evaluate social-emotional functioning, including projectives and assessments to rule in or rule out Autism Spectrum Disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psychotherapy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The center provides psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as providing parenting education and support.&nbsp; Our approach to therapy utilizes a developmental perspective and implements cognitive\/behavioral strategies.&nbsp; The focus of therapy is to provide a supportive environment where the children, adolescents, and young adults in our practice may function more successfully within their families and social relationships, while incorporating the parents into the therapy process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Psychoeducational Evaluations The psychoeducational evaluation includes a full assessment to address the educational and psychological needs of children, adolescents, and young adults.&nbsp;
